Job Description

Three Bridges Recruitment is working with a  well-established national charity recruiting for an experienced and dependable Payroller to take ownership of its end-to-end payroll function.

This role is an initial 3-month contract, with genuine potential to become permanent . The salary range is £30,000–£33,000.

The Role

This is a hands-on Payroller position sitting at the intersection of Finance and HR. You’ll be responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time and in line with statutory requirements, while acting as a trusted point of contact for payroll-related queries across the organisation.

The role suits someone comfortable owning payroll processes end to end, spotting issues early and communicating clearly and calmly with stakeholders. Payroll is treated as critical, trusted work rather than a fire-fighting function, and accuracy and professionalism are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the end-to-end payroll process
  • Working closely with HR to ensure payroll data is accurate and up to date
  • Carrying out payroll checks and reconciliations prior to submission
  • Preparing and submitting RTI returns
  • Ensuring correct processing of pensions, student loans and statutory deductions
  • Maintaining compliance with payroll legislation and statutory requirements
  • Responding to payroll queries in a clear, professional and timely manner
  • Proactively identifying and resolving payroll issues
  • Supporting additional payroll and related finance tasks as required

You Will Bring

  • Proven experience in a payroll role with end-to-end responsibility
  • A strong understanding of payroll processes and statutory requirements
  • Confidence handling pensions, RTI submissions and statutory deductions
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
  • Clear, professional communication skills
  • The ability to manage deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • A proactive mindset with strong problem-solving skills

Desirable

  • Experience working closely with HR teams
  • Exposure to payroll within the third sector or public sector
  • Knowledge of payroll systems and strong Excel skills

Why Apply?

This is a values-led organisation with a supportive, structured culture where people are trusted to do their jobs properly. Payroll plays a key role in supporting colleagues across the organisation, and your work will have a direct impact on staff confidence and operational stability.

The initial contract offers flexibility and pace, with real potential for a longer-term role.

Next Steps

If you’re an experienced Payroller looking for a role where accuracy, professionalism and purpose matter, we’d welcome a confidential conversation.
